Summary: 2008-05-13 09:44:00 And at the tender age of 38, I discovered Joni Mitchell. I had this one looped on repeat on my IPod for a week or so, and some of the tracks (like "Carey" and "River") belong to my  favourite discoveries of recent years.

Summary: 2006-12-17 10:25:00 For me, this is Joni Mitchell's finest album. Great songwriting throughout...she's one of the great poets in rock and roll history. The songs are a personal examination of her life at that time. Her voice is beautiful, particularly in "A Case of You. Joni Mitchell is a TRUE ARTIST.

Summary: 2001-07-13 00:00:00 This is my second favorite album by Joni (the first being "Ladies of the Canyon"). Joni shows she is a master of songwriting with her clever, fun and sad lyrics and transient melodies. Her guitar-work is also stunning. The alternate tunings that she uses give extra originality and attitude to her music! she shows that she can can be bluesy and upbeat with songs like "All I Really Want" and "Carrie" as well as slow and emotionally stirring on tracks like "River" and "The Last Time I Saw Richard". She also packs a delightful punch with clever mid-tempo ditties like "A Case of You" and "My Old Man". Not only are her songs brilliant, her voice soars above the music with strength, beauty and virtuosity!

Summary: 2001-06-25 00:00:00 An indisputable classic. Obviously a tremendous influence on hundreds of musicians, male and female, since its release. Stark and unafraid to talk about basic feelings of love, loss, fear, and yes, joy too. Joni Mitchell is a heroic figure and this is one of her most monumental achievements.

Summary: 2001-02-03 00:00:00 Incredibly good album. You can't find a half-bad song on here. Well-written songs, simple back-up instrumentation, perfectly delivered vocal lines by Joni. Gentle moods with "River" and "Little Green", fun songs like "Carey" and "California", and some introspective songs like "Blue" and "Last Time I Saw Richard" are all found on here. It's hard to find music this great sometimes. But when you do, something tells you you're into something good. I don't know how you could be disappointed with this- everybody could find something they like on "Blue".

Summary: 2001-01-09 00:00:00 With Blue Joni Mitchell went from being a very talented folksinger/songwriter to a major musical force. Informed as much by jazz and blues as folk, Blue is a moody, potent masterpiece that has survived the thirty years since it's release almost entirely in tact. As lyrically and vocally inventive as it is musically. Blue gives us the first hint at just how far Joni Mitchell would travel.
