Summary: 2002-12-03 00:00:00 This album and Astral Weeks will always be his two best albums of his career. You can hear his Irish upbringing in some of the songs. "And It Stoned Me" is a magnificent song!

Summary: 2007-05-29 02:24:00 What is it with Van Morrison and this album? OK, it's jazzy, progressive, and innovative, and when it was originally released it struck a chord with the late 60's crowd looking for a new artsy flavored rock. But a great rock classic? Hell no! Morrison has a mediocre voice, the songs, while well written, haven't really aged very well. A timepiece yes, a great rock album, NO!

Summary: 2006-07-20 06:40:00 I did not like it when a friend challenged me saying "But where are the real _songs_ on 'Astral Weeks'? True, " "Moondance" has many fun songs. Hearing "Everyone" at the ending of Wes Anderson's "The Royal Tenenbaums" (he always chooses the greatest music, doesn't he?) prompted me to immediately go out and buy this album, and I have not been disappointed, really; it is full of a unique sound of a rollicking, jazzy, quasi-psychedelic band. But next to "Weeks" it lacks some of the magic.

Summary: 2006-02-10 09:36:00 Van Morrison is always generally very good. "Moondance" is one of his very best; any album with "Into the Mystic" on it automatically gets five stars without hesitation.

Summary: 2006-01-08 09:20:00 A very good album, his first commercially successful one, with a handful of standards, like "Caravan" and "Into the Mystic". Very soulful, and, in contrast to his prior album Astral Weeks, this was influenced more by R&B than jazz, though the title track is essentially a jazz song.

Summary: 2003-09-03 00:00:00 Released in 1970, "Moondance" is a great place to start when contemplating that first Van Morrison purchase (save the compilations). While "Moondance" doesn't contain any of Van's more "party" tracks (eg "Brown Eyed Girl"), it does contain some of his best work which has not been overplayed including the well known "Caravan" (included in an episode of "WKRP") and the title track as well as some lesser known singles such as "In To The Mystic" (my favorite), "And It Stoned Me", "Crazy Love", "Come Running", and "These Dreams Of You".

Summary: 2001-05-08 00:00:00 I give Moondance four stars because I only listen to the first five songs on the CD. But it's those songs that are constantly playing on my stereo. From the easy on the ears "Moondance" to the ethereal "Into the Mystic", Morrison has shown to have such beautiful range and taste when it comes to songwriting and instrument arrangement. "Caravan" always brings to mind a hippie campfire where only peace and love reign and "Crazy Love" is the premiere love song of a traveling musician and the woman who loves him. "And It Stoned Me" plays like a man's distant memory of youth and happiness- not only the words, but the music! But I will always have a special place in my heart for "Into The Mystic" for this is the song that brought Morrison and the "Moondance" album to my attention. Sometimes I wonder how I got along without knowing these songs exsisted!
