Summary: 2003-12-05 00:00:00 Nevermind has been one of my favourites for a long time. I could riff on about what a great album this was, how groundbreaking it was for its time and how Cobain, Grohl, Channing and even Novoselic brought alternative music to the mainstream after the synth dominated period of the time but I won't for now. If I can go off on a personal tangent here "Come as you are" is a song that defies description, its one of the few songs I can listen to that NEVER gets old and I've listened to it hundreds of times. It's like a windpipe of life, existence and everything where the listener is blasted through the tunnel of the universe with Kurts subtle drones of "come as you are, as a friend..." luring you right to the proverbial fan and blasting the wind and sands of time into your face when he yells "I don't have a gun...". Lithium is an orgy of bizarre, youthful energy and confusion that strikes my teenage mind, tugs at my heartstrings and asks "so what the hell do you want from life? What the HELL do you want?" (not actual lyrics but just voices in my head created by the music). Breed is a complete attack on convention and the nature of family that makes one desperately contemplate the nature of human society: "We can plant a house, we can build a tree, I don't even care we don't have to breed". "On a Plain" strikes my mind with both images of vast windswept western landscapes and of course the meditative experience of actually flying. "Polly" conjures images of a lone old man, laughing at all he sees, strumming an accoustic guitar, on a porch next to a dusty road with its deep tales of somber alienation. I can't claim to fully understand everything the Genius known as Kurt writes but every lyric he writes strikes my youthful imagination and sets it on fire. This is a perfect album for confused and/or depressed teenagers (hence the first track "smells like teen spirit") and this whole album is one blasting anthemous bastion of youth that certainly can never be forgotten. Yes, I like this album...

Summary: 2002-12-03 00:00:00 Every once and a while an album comes along and shakes the music industry with a shot in the arm. This album did just that to the hair metal scene and it was so fun to watch it fall, as well as listening to the hell out of this album, which is what I did in college.

Summary: 2001-01-25 00:00:00 This used to be my favorite CD when I was younger. I still enjoy it. I feel that I can relate a lot of the lyrics to my own life. And I also love Nirvana and just the beat of their music. It reminds me of high school.
