Nevermind the '90s.

The best albums of that decade are none too good.

Most current popular albums are even worse.

However, there's plenty of good sounds to be found if one puts some effort into searching.

We're blessed to have nearly a hundred years of fantastic recorded music available on CD.

If you like rock'nroll, I suggest starting with THE BEST OF MUDDY WATERS and/or HANK BALLARD & THE MIDNIGHTERS GREATEST HITS. If more modern sounds are your thing, check out FUN HOUSE by the STOOGES or THE VELVET UNDERGROUND AND NICO just for a start.

Summary: 2008-08-05 01:02:00 This makes my list of greatest albums of all time.  "Black", "Evenflow" and "Jeremy" are some of my picks, but every song on this album is worthwhile.  It was a staple in my collection in the era of grunge and continues to be today.

Summary: 2007-06-11 03:11:00 True, there are no bad songs on the album, but now Ten just sounds bad to me for no fault of its own: I think of it as spawning all the other fuzz guitar on the FM wasteland that I tune out from. Pearl Jam paid its dues to the best musicians of its day, such as Neil Young and Mike Watt, and was smart and socially engaged, but was also liked by fans and imitated by bands that weren't worthy of them. The price of success, I guess. This album has aged a lot.

Summary: 2007-02-09 02:14:00 Great album! Can't say enough about it. Great mix of songs. Really good lead and rhythm guitars throughout. Vocals are top notch. Above all, the lyrics are some of the best ever crafted!!

Summary: 2004-05-13 00:00:00 I never understood why 'nevermind' got all the critical plaudits. '10' is far superior in terms of musicality, musicianship and feel/atmosphere. I can think of few albums that have better opening tracks than this. Mike McCready is an underrated lead player and Jeff Ament is also one of the better rock bassists out there. Still their best album and definitely one of the very few 90s releases that has a classic quality.

Summary: 2004-04-14 00:00:00 The combination of raw, hard, jump out of your seat songs like Porch and evenflow combined with the time stopping slow oceans and release give this album the type of diversity and range seen by few albums.Just push play and enjoy

Summary: 2003-05-21 00:00:00 A very efficient first album showing the built-up potential that was eventually going to find its way out of the band. Took a while to grow on me, though - it's an outstanding collection of songs that seems to have no real fit as an album (Except for "Alive" and "Once" which are prequel and sequel in a three-song trio). However, I loved "Black" and "Jeremy" from the moment I first heard them, and "Evenflow" gets stuck in my head so much that there was a time for a while when I tried to hate the song (it didn't work, though). I think they've done better albums, but keeping in mind that this is a first album...it's great.

Summary: 2002-10-17 00:00:00 Along with Nevermind from Nirvana, this album proved that there was a serious uprising from Seattle that wanted to be heard and it did, knocking glam metal to the ground.

Summary: 2001-10-15 00:00:00 I must say I did start to turn on this album after what, the fifth video? though I did like the second album and some of the third (and haven't heard much after that), I'd have to say no wonder they hated getting famous cause it ruined them. the sound on this album, as well as the lyrics, were fresh, poetic and soulful. The sound was a great blend of sweet and mysterious. I'm sure this album will be considered a classic in 10 or 15 years.
