Summary: 2006-03-23 04:08:00 While Springsteen's lyrics and music might have been too complex for those dunderheads who were enamored of Styx, Boston and Kansas, this album was a shining light during a dark period for rock n' roll. The variety and ingenuity Bruce has brought to the music is noteworthy. (Usually it's the chicks who don't "get it").

Summary: 2006-01-26 01:44:00 This album, when released, was proof positive that The Wuss was a marginally-talented fraud. The guy was only five years into his recording career and was already imitating himself. Really lame. Time has borne out the initial assessment of those whose taste didn't end in their mouths: sawed-off toughguy wannabe Wussie has made some really dreadful records over the decades, and this one is among the worst. Yet, the beer-drinking losers love this guy, mostly because they see something of themselves in him.

Summary: 2002-09-02 00:00:00 I enjoy music with a message, music that tells a story. Bruce Springsteen is a master at this concept. The songs on this album tell stories of the blue collar man, and youthful energy. This album is full of exhilerating tales and edginess.

Summary: 2002-07-10 00:00:00 I can't believe 'Bad Lands' was his only hit off of this album! Songs like 'Promised Land' and 'Adam Raised Up Caine' should have been definite hit potential. And with songs like 'Working Life' and 'Racing In the Street'... man that is true, hard core, classic Springsteen. There should have been five or six hits released from this album.

Summary: 2002-04-05 00:00:00 The only reason I haven't rated this album great is the poor recording quality. Otherwise, it is the most underrated Springsteen album. Its edginess, its eeriness is haunting and beautiful. It is by far one of my top favorites.
