1 Star ReviewThis album sucks. People who abominate the goo goo ...
Strengths: NA

Summary: 2004-06-27 00:00:00 This album sucks. People who abominate the goo goo dolls are winners. Stop listening to the crap they write, becasue they are SELLOUTS, and a numbskulled band. All they are doing is killing rock n' roll and trying to be groovy by changing their music style from punk to the crap they write. Their hit songs are just plain commiserable and inadequate. I hate it when people say that their lyrics are consequential, because their lyics are crap about sex and drugs, common pop music subject matter. It is galling how people thing the goo goo dolls are great, when they are nothing more that part of the incommodious disco craze of the late 1990's and are a mediocre band that writes second-rate anthems. The Smashing Pumpkins have 1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000X better lyrics, idiosyncrasy, vocalization, and overall sound. At least The Smashing Pumpkins can win 2 Grammy awards and the goo goo dolls can't. And The Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan is magnificent, and a gifted musician. And at least he can play guitar better, sing better, is not a aficionado, and can transcribe better canticles. I can think of 50+ corroborations about how The Smashing Pumpkins are better than the goo goo dolls, but I will be cordial and not say them b/c it could hurt all of their annoying and repungent fans. Because of my saying this, listen to authentic and pragmatical music like The Smashing Pumpkins, Nirvana, Madonna, Soundgarden, Led Zeppelin, Judas Priest, Black Sabbath, or The Smashing Pumpkins. And I have a memorandum to adherents of the goo goo dolls: You liking this obnoxious and corrupt band must be some kind of agreemend with a treaty. I hope the US comes drilling into your head looking for oil, since brains are one thing they're sure to miss.

Summary: 2008-08-25 05:05:00 Dizzy is one of my all time favorite albums. Yes, it DOES mark a style change in the Goos, but it is still very enjoyable. It's more of an easy listening album, and almost every song is winner. A creative use of guitars, and well written songs. This album defines the adult alternative genre.

Summary: 2005-11-02 06:34:00 dizzy up the girl is an excellent album... it was unlike any album yet released by the goos, they had fully gone mainstream (other than robby's up-beat punk songs that keep the album still sounding like the old goo in some sense) it contained the incredible single iris written by johnny for the city of angels soundtrack. it also contained the chart toppers slide, broadway, and black balloon. each song is distinct and all the songs are excellent peices of music.

Summary: 2005-01-16 00:00:00 Great band, great CD. My fave song on it is "Broadway." Some people hate them cuz they slowed down their music in order to, gasp, SELL RECORDS. Gee, who ever heard of someone making music to reach a large audience? They still make great music and I'm happy that it's reaching more ears now!

Summary: 2001-09-04 00:00:00 I really like this CD, which I borrowed from a friend then had to go out and by my own copy. I never considered myself a Goo Goo Dolls fan, but when I listened to her CD I realized I liked several songs I'd heard on the radio.

Summary: 2001-07-06 00:00:00 "Iris" was the first Goo Goo Dolls song I ever heard, and my initial reaction was that the band sounded kind of whiny. After a while, though, it grew on me. I really liked several other Goo Goo Dolls songs that were played a lot on the radio ("Slide," "Broadway" and "Black Balloon"), and so I checked out "Dizzy Up the Girl," which has all of the hits. The CD is pretty good overall, although a few of the tracks are a bit too loud and rambunctious for my taste. If you like what you hear of the Goo Goo Dolls on the radio, I'm pretty sure you'd like this CD.

Summary: 2001-01-31 00:00:00 This cd is great. I have every single Goo Goo Doll album and I would recommend any of them to anybody. Every song on the album really means something to me, but my favorite song is Hate This Place. That song rocks. Their sound shows that they have really grown musically since albums like Jed-their lyrics are more meaningful and their playing sounds a lot tighter. Dizzy Up the Girl and their Hold Me Up cd are my favorites of all time!

Summary: 2001-01-11 00:00:00 Goo Goo Dolls, Dizzy Up the Girl, I would say, has to be the best Cd. Mainstream is getting on my nerves, but Dizzy Up the Girl is so awesome. Check out how long their album has been out. City of Angels soundtrack was like decades ago, now they're still around with great songs.

Summary: 2001-01-10 00:00:00 This is a real good album, very fun to listen to!! I couldn't give it 5 stars, though, it just didn't blow me away. The only album this year that I gave 5 stars to is David Gray's 'White Ladder'. But I still listen to Dizzy a lot!
