Summary: 2004-03-30 00:00:00 A double album. The first disc, a studio offering, is both electronic and lush, experimental yet engaging. Definently one of the Tori Amos albums with the broadest appeal. Songs like 'Bliss' and 'Riot Poof' are full of energy, while 'Suede' and 'Spring Haze' are enigmatic and mysterious in their gorgeosity. The accompanying live album is a bit hit and miss at times and does not convey the amazingness that is a Tori Amos live experience - but that doesn't stop it from having a lot of wonderful performances. In particular, 'Precious Things,' 'Sugar,' 'Bells for Her,' and 'Purple People' stand out for me.

Summary: 2001-03-27 00:00:00 If you are looking at this page you have probably looked at the others so I would like to say that Tori Amos Released her first album before little earthqouakes called "Y Kant Tori Read". And the people who designed the other pages are idiots. Other than that I love Tori. This album is Great!

Summary: 2001-01-23 00:00:00 Tori is great. She never loses her sense of great lyrics. This album is a change from her "non-band" albums-she changes and grows in time and so does her music and that keeps it fun and interesting. "Concertine" is the best song. This 2-CD album is great.

Summary: 2001-01-10 00:00:00 This is a real good album, very fun to listen to!! I couldn't give it 5 stars, though, it just didn't blow me away. The only album this year that I gave 5 stars to is David Gray's 'White Ladder'. But I still listen to Venus a lot!

Summary: 2001-01-05 00:00:00 Tori Amos always rocks no matter what this woman does it will sound good! She writes like poetry, and when I read it myself, it is completely different than hearing her sing it-she brings so much life and so much emotion to every song!

3 Star ReviewTori Amos, on this album has drifted even further ...
Strengths: NA
Weaknesses: NA
Summary: 2001-01-03 00:00:00 Tori Amos, on this album has drifted even further from her image as "the girl at the piano." Most of the songs are heavily enhanced by machines that often, unfortunately, drown out Tori's voice. Still, this is a great album for a rainy day, as is the companion live album. "Lost" is especially haunting.

Summary: 2000-11-24 00:00:00 Tori Amos never fails to give a dynamic performance. She plays the piano better than anyone I have heard in a long time. The feeling she gives me is amazing. To make it start, she puts my pain away.

Summary: 2000-11-15 00:00:00 Fabulous. Tori's best album yet. A must have. The music is wonderfully orchestrated and well written. Once again, the lyrics are wonderful.

Summary: 2000-11-14 00:00:00 I love Tori Amos and I was very excited that this double album was coming out. Once I finally listened to it I was dissapointed by the lack of substance and the confusion of her lyrics. One thing I would tell my friends would be to compare this new album to "From the Choirgirl Hotel" and notice how the styles are the same, but "To Venus and Back" doesn't have the same intensity. The second disc is wonderful because it is a compilation of songs from her live shows. This is a Tori fan "must have".

Summary: 2000-09-27 00:00:00 Tori Amos never ceases to impress me! This CD was one of the best she has done. The live "older" songs I absolutely love! I could listen to this 24/7!!!

Summary: 2000-08-30 00:00:00 I was so impressed by this CD...it inspired my writing for a while...some of it was a little too computerized for my taste, however--Tori, c'mon, where's the girl with the piano?

Summary: 2000-07-12 00:00:00 The two disc album was a great idea. The first contains songs I really like. The second disc meets my expectations exactly. Many of the old songs are in live versions that are a little different from the album versions. Awesome!
