Summary: 2004-12-07 04:18:00 Huge influence for 30 yrs in music, both 'alt' and 'pop'. Check out his role as a Briish POW in the movie Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence. Hard to find, but totally worth it.

Summary: 2003-11-12 04:04:00 Once again, Ruby is way ahead of me. For many years I had passed off most of this album as mediocre at best. But Bowie WAS in a groove and it's taken time for me to tap into that groove. "Moonage Daydream", "Star" and "Hang Onto Yourself" are all spectacular and under-appreciated. And Bowie certainly did his homework in creating the Ziggy Stardust character; elements of Brian Jones, Hendrix, Morrison... and Bowie brings out the tragedy and decadence of that glittery stardom. It's quite touching really. The band plays up a storm, Bowie is a fearless and relentlessly creative songwriter... let the children boogie.

Summary: 2002-03-27 08:09:00 One of my favorite albums of all time from my favorite artist of all time. It's amazing listining to it now to think it was recorded at the begining of the 70's. To me it transended the glam rock scene of time into sound that still sounds fresh to me 30 years on.

Songs like Starman, Rock N Roll Suicide and Suffragette City are just perfect, they have great depth but still rock out and just get you movin. a wonderful album.

Summary: 2001-07-26 04:18:00 David Bowie is one of the most talented people in the world, and this stage character (Ziggy Stardust) proves that statement. So unique, and brilliant it will never be forgotten. I have always been an outcast and I discovered I was not alone when i discovered him. So insperational, if i could give him a rating better then 5, then i would. And his music is just amazing. His voice is beautiful and his lyrics are meaningful and quite amazing.

Summary: 2001-01-15 12:09:00 David Bowie is pure perfection. This collection of songs is the essence of glam. It has glitter, it is shinny and most importantly excess is key. The themes of the songs are political resentance disguised in pure rock; questions "scene" mentality and gendered ideas. Redefines rock.

Summary: 2001-01-08 12:46:00 One of the greatest theme albums of all time, "Ziggy Stardust," moves the listener with beautiful musical arrangement coupled with lyrics that tell a story with a grace and strength that make you feel that you're a part of it. This album also features one of the best first songs, with "5 Years," and last songs with "Rock n Roll Suicide" that act as perfect bookends to this perfect album.

Summary: 2000-12-20 01:23:00 This is the first album I ever bought on CD, way back in the early 80's, and I still listen to it. Nobody does freak-rock better than Mr. Bowie, and no one ever will. "Suffragette City" is almost as good as the previous Bowie classic, "The Man Who Sold The World."
