Strengths: The Chicks still rock! I love this album as much as Fly or Wide Open Spaces. It's mature and introspective. 'I Hope' should be a Grammy contender. 'Baby Hold On' will bring back Country fans.
Weaknesses: It's a rock album with country influences. They are breaking new ground and that's what the Chicks have always done so well.
Summary: 2006-06-17 09:49:46 Taking the Long Way may be one of the best albums the Dixie Chicks have ever recorded. They are talented musicians with a unique sound and style. Watch the live Web cast and decide for yourself. That's what I did and I fell in love with every track.

Strengths: The "good old boys" of country may have turned their backs, but the Chicks have a whole new following in addition to their already loyal fans! Including me. This is probably the best one yet.
Weaknesses: NA
Summary: Politically the Chicks are way ahead of their country counterparts and have the courage to say it. Too bad there aren't more like them in Texas, but wait......elections coming up in November, there is still hope! Until then, let the good songs roll!!

2 Star ReviewListen online before buying
Strengths: It's better than Neil Young's anti-Bush rant
Weaknesses: It isn't that good
Summary: Just don't tell me that the album is quality - it isn't. There are two good songs on the album, and two okay songs, bu the majority of the album is lame.

Yes, I'm sure every goth anti-Bush zealot will buy the thing just as a protest or because the alum appeals to the predisposed hatred of Bush, but this album will be forever collecting dust 14 days after purchase.

Strengths: POWERFUL!
Weaknesses: None
Summary: This is their best album by a mile. I;m not the least bit political and to me, 'Not Ready to Make Nice' is more of a Gay anthem for me. 'So Hard' and "easy silence' along with NRTMN are among my all time favorite songs. Think about this. They got VERY little radio time by only a few stations, they lost most of their fan base, the most attention they got was on a late night talk show, yet they were still at the top of the best-selling albums list of 2006. They even sold better than Toby Keith. This is my second favorite album of all time. I highly recommend it!
