| Album Description | |
| Personnel: Martina Topley-Bird (vocals); Ray Lema (vocals); John Bilezikijan, Martin Topley-Bird, Notte Della Taranta Ensemble, Gizmo, Michael Thompson, Pat MacDonald, Armand Sabal-Lecco, Vittorio, Mauro Refosco, Phil X., Orchestra Ueca. Audio Mixer: Jeff Seitz . Recording information: Space Eko, London, England. Photographers: Peter Bayliss; Jean Pierre Dutilleux; Eugenio Brambilla; Rob Shanahan; Bill Belknap. Arrangers: Vittorio Cosma; Stewart Copeland. THE STEWART COPELAND COLLECTION is the first set to collect recordings made by the former Police drummer since the break-up of that band. Ranging across Copeland's various projects, COLLECTION gives a comprehensive and compelling look into the musical sensibility of this much-heralded percussionist. Arranged chronologically, COLLECTION begins with a track from Klark Kent, Copeland's post-Police new-wave band, and continues through his various compositions for film, his solo albums (the tracks from THE RHYTHMATIST are especially noteworthy), and collaborative ventures such as Oysterhead, Copeland's band with guitarist Trey Anastasio and bassist Les Claypool. Copeland's skill with melody and arrangement are striking, but it's his yen for exotic rhythms, and his unparalleled skill on the skins, that makes this set a winner. |
