On 2008's DARK SHADES OF BLUE, his second studio album for the well-respected Anti label, Australian singer/multi-instrumentalist Xavier Rudd offers a largely brooding set of tunes. Considerably heavier than Rudd's easy-going, folk-tinged past outings, BLUE benefits from the metallic production of Joe Barresi (the Melvins, Queens of the Stone Age), as best evinced on the ominous opener, "Black Water." |
