| Album Description | |
| British singer-songwriter Jim Noir's first album, TOWER OF LOVE, bore a strong Beach Boys influence. The self-titled follow-up still owes a bit to Brian Wilson and Company, but the Manchester popmeister has expanded his style outwards. A '60s psych-pop flavor undeniably informs much of the music, but there's a markedly more contemporary feel here, and a greater reliance on electronics. Whether the source is analog or digital, though, the swirling kaleidoscope of sound that enriches JIM NOIR gives a dazzling sheen to these peppy pop confections. A sense of musical history will probably always pervade Noir's music, but this collection suggests that he's no mere pop nostalgia peddler. | |
