Inspired by the purist punk aesthetic of the early 1980s (especially Fugazi), Double Dagger deliver one of their rawest and most realized efforts with 2009's MORE. Recorded in an abandoned office building in Baltimore, MORE is so stripped down and gutsy it seems like high art, a quality it shares with its D.I.Y. forebears. But Double Dagger's true art is its power, which packs quite a punch considering its bare-bones approach and bass-guitar-drums instrumentation. This is miles removed from the corporate punk-pop of Green Day, or even the sleek sound of acts like Against Me. Instead, MORE upholds the indisputable truth that with punk less is, in fact, more.
