| Album Description | |
| Personnel: Mystikal, J-Dawg, G-Quikk, G-Slimm, Black Menace, The Boot Camp Clicc (rap vocals); Insane, Michelle Tyler (vocals); L. "Precise" Edwards (vocals, various instruments, scratches); D. Faulk (various instruments). All songs written by M. Tyler and L. Edwards except "Mr. Hood Critic" (M. Tyler/L. Edwards/R. Jones). MIND OF MYSTIKAL is a re-designed package of MYSTIKAL which was originally released through Big Boy Records (12). Jive's version contains four new songs. Personnel: Leroy "Precise" Edwards (vocals); David Faulk (guitar, keyboards). Like many hip-hop albums of the mid-'90s, Mystikal's Mind of Mystikal is rooted in Dr. Dre's G-funk. While nothing in the production is particularly original, Mystikal's rapping is distinctive. Where many G-funk rappers are laid-back, Mystikal is hyper, zipping between obscure pop culture references and standard gangsta boasting. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine Like many hip-hop albums of the mid-'90s, Mystikal's Mind of Mystikal is rooted in Dr. Dre's G-funk. No matter how good his verbal skills are, he can't help the fact that his backing tracks are flat-out boring and that is what sinks his record. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine |
